BLKAVE X MBFWA
It's that time for year again!! Where the designers, hairdressers, makeup artists and anyone who is remotely interested in the world of fashion, flock to Sydney. Networking, blogging and champagne, all create creative vibes that are impossible to dodge. We go for inspiration and the thrill of being a part of the moment which is Mercedes Benz Fashion Week Australia. Oh yeah, also to compare our legs and cheek bones to the models... (its ok I've accepted it)
BLKAVE joined the Curtis Collection Team for Aje the label. Here's our recap on everything hair and makeup...
Yes! we called it. "Lived in Hair" has made its catwalk debut. We are talking beautiful, soft and embracing the natural texture. This style works perfectly alone side the 70s Vibe Fashion that has been coming out of Sydney this week. Minimal products and minimal effort work alongside the streamline structure of flared arms and textured fabric. We look back stage, where the models run in from a previous show where they had a sleek pony glued down with gel, no time to wash, just have to brush it out and go effortless... This gives me hope that this look is achievable after the gym.
Skin is kept natural and tones are embraced. Light and minimal again. The key is to ensure you have well groomed brows as we are now reaching for the brow tint brush rather than the gel with angle brush. Goodbye extreme brow and face contouring and hello illuminated neutral skin and flushed cheeks. The look was described to us as, give the models the look they have lightly exercised. The glow and soft flushed cheeks.... i don't know about you but i see that look on me, as covering my whole face with red lippy.
INVEST in the Curtis Collection "Radiant Glow Illuminator" and "Hydra Primer". Mixed together they are a match made in makeup heaven. This is applied everywhere but the T-zone, to create a natural and nourished glow. It will change your life!!! The T-zone is then mattified using the "skin refining face primer". This keeps the focus and dewey look on your cheek bones and ensures that you are glowing in the right places..... Glow and oily forehead are two very different things! The base is the most important part to the look, as majority of the work is done underneath the foundation to ensure it remains flawless.
We are sorry if you have been finally perfecting your contouring skills for months, but we are happy to announce that we are saying goodbye to dirty skin and hello fresh and radiant beauty!! woooo!! Its all about keeping it simple this season and investing in hydrating products to create the perfect base for your makeup. With the three main looks labeled as "Skin", "Flushed" and "Freckles", it is perfect for all skin tones and caters for all natural beauty. A lot of the makeup this season is moving away from harsh lines and towards soft blending and using our fingers to apply. (clean hands of course!)
You better WERRRRK that natural texture girl!! With the lack of styling tools needed this season, it is all about the marriage between key hair products and your natural texture. Sweaty gym hair will actually work better and we need those natural oils for this look, rather than fluffy clean hair. The models were coming backstage with a build up in their hair from other shows and this all worked to our advantage!
INVEST in Sachajuan "Ocean Mist" Spray, appilied to your hair when wet and "Volume Power" to be sprayed in when the hair is dry. We love this stuff!! Its like a mixture between a volume powder, hairspray, dry shampoo and texture spray.... ooo and it comes in a dark version also! If you are required to use styling tools, use your wand or iron on a very low temperature and the more creative you are with chunk sections the better.. goodbye perfect curls... (another thing you have spent years trying to perfect..)
Just like with the makeup, hair is all about the prep as well. Hydration is key, so ensure your hairdresser has prescribed the correct at home haircare to keep your tresses nourished and naturally glowing.
